The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest lay Catholic family service organization. Celebrating 128 years of service to the Church, its members and their families, the Knights of Columbus has over 1.7 million members in nearly 15,000 local councils in 13 countries. The Knights has also become one of North America’s largest and strongest life insurance companies.
There are four Principles of the Knights of Columbus: Charity; Unity; Fraternity and Patriotism. Each year, the organization is active in supporting World Youth Days, the personal charities of the Holy Father, relief assistance to victims of natural disasters throughout the world and in funding state and local programs to benefit youth, the disadvantaged and needy and our parishes.
Fr. Bally Council 1192, founded in 1907, has a long tradition of supporting the Catholic parishes of our area from which we draw our membership. These faith communities include St. Aloysius Parish, Pottstown, PA; St. Columbkill Parish, Boyertown, PA; St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Parish, Stowe, PA; and, Immaculate Conception BVM Parish, Douglassville (Birdsboro), PA.
Among the activities/events sponsored by our Council are the annual Pro-Life Rose Drive, Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Drive, Feed-the-Needy dinners, Father/Son/Daughter Communion breakfasts, Children’s Christmas Party and Easter Egg Hunt, Bally Bowl-a-thon, Youth Basketball Free-throw Competition and various social events, including our Summer family picnic. Our Casey Service Club offers a welcoming place for conversation, fellowship, and recreational sports like shuffleboard, darts and pool. Follow your favorite sports teams and events on our large, flat-screen televisions. Our Council Hall and Picnic Grove are available to host your next family or social event. Since 2008, Fr. Bally Council has donated more than $30,000 annually to support local, regional and national charities, including local parish projects and activities. For the first time in its history, the Council was awarded the prestigious “Star Council” designation during 2008. We strive to help our parishes and those in our communities who need support and financial assistance.
Fr. Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in the basement of St. Mary’s Parish, New Haven, CT to address needs faced by Catholic men and their families in the late 19th Century. Father McGivney’s vision continues today. Our mission is to:
